An innovator and pioneer in modern dentistry, Shawn Keller DDS and his Smile By Design practice in Kirkland, Washington, provide patients with their dream smiles using state-of-the-art dental technology and techniques. The high-tech office designed by Dr. Keller is equipped with a dental lab, a 3D printer, milling machines for teeth and bridges, and tooth and face scanners.

Smile by Design also has its own digital designer, Dr. Keller’s sister, who uses CAD/CAM software to 3D model patients’ teeth to fit their faces perfectly. The use of scans enables Dr. Keller and his team to work without the patient’s presence. When patients get their implants, they go home that night with teeth produced using 3D printing. Their beautiful smiles were designed beforehand, saving time.

Dr. Keller is proud of his highly specialized team, whom he trained to bring exceptional healthcare to patients. His office is set up and decorated like Star Trek or Star Wars.

Dentistry fulfilled Keller’s love of creating art and helping people. His dental experience shaped the dentist Keller is today. After suffering from constant migraines, as well as neck and hip pain, with no relief in taking the traditional medical route, he turned to dentistry. With the use of modern dental technology and techniques, he was diagnosed and treated for bite issues, which permanently ended his pain. He also got his dream smile in the process.

This experience led Dr. Shawn Keller to adopt his whole-health approach. As a result, he has elevated dental care standards, paved the way for dentists nationwide, and helped patients regain their lives.

Dr. Keller’s Education and Experience

Shawn Keller, DDS, did his undergraduate work at Western Washington University and later received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Washington School of Dentistry, one of the top 10 dental schools in the United States. He completed his Fellowship at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies.

Dr. Keller also had several exclusive worldwide residencies, including in Barcelona and Greece, where he specialized in dental implants, and Australia, where he perfected creating teeth in a day. He also trained in 3D Design and milling with the Zirkonzahn and Neodent team in Gais, Italy. Zirkonzahn Worldwide develops new technologies and visions for dental technology.

Keller values keeping up with the latest in dentistry and performs countless hours of continuing education annually.

Sharing His Dentistry Knowledge, Pro Bono Work

Dr. Shaw Keller was an instructor for the AEI, traveling to Mexico to teach the latest technology in dental implants. He met patients who needed dentistry and can now smile confidently with their new implants. 

Dr. Keller has provided implants and bridges for those in need in Mexico and Guatemala. 

Accolades and Accomplishments

Dr. Keller was the first dentist in Washington state to place CeraRoot metal-free implants. These implants are made of high-strength ceramic and are designed to meet the highest functional and esthetic demands.

He was an Instructor of Implantology Master in 2015 and was voted among the Best of Redmond Dentists 2016, Seattle 413 Top Doctors in 2016, and America’s Top Dentists, Cosmetic Dentistry in 2008. 

Growing Up in Kirkland, WA

Shawn Keller grew up in Kirkland and later on Camano Island in Washington. He comes from a large Catholic family and is the second oldest of nine children. His childhood in the Pacific Northwest was filled with camping, boating, crabbing, and visiting the San Juan Islands with his family. He also played football.

His hobbies today include golfing, painting, boating, snowboarding, yoga, and traveling. He is also a huge Seahawks fan. Of course, healthy living is integral to his life.
